◆ About Kamogawa Noryo-yuka terraces

A summer feature of Kyoto, Kamogawa Noryo-yuka terraces . The history is long, and Hideyoshi Toyotomi has replaced Sanjo Bridge and Gojo Bridge, etc. Riverside was very crowded with souvenirs and goods sold.
It is said that the beginning of the wealthy merchants setting out the sights and making tea shops there.
During the Edo period, stone walls and banks were maintained, and a flower street was formed, making it a pleasure town. In the middle of the Edo period, about 400 teahouses were organized, including determining the number of floor desks (shogis).
It was in the late Meiji period that it was possible to create a bed like the present with a raised floor style. Until then, the mainstream was to put the floor desk above the flow, but in the Taisho era when the flow became faster due to flood control work, the floor desk type floor was banned.

Recently, cafes and Izakaya have more casual floors, and from quiet Kamikiya-cho to glamorous Sento-cho, historic Saiseki, calm Shimokiya-cho and shops with different characteristics for each area, Kamogawa or Kyoto You can enjoy the cityscape.
